Render vs reality

Learning Only Software Is The Old Way. Learn The Site Way.

Get site-ready for 2027 & beyond.

THE OLD WAY
  • ✕Master SketchUp or 3ds Max and hope a firm hires you for it
  • ✕Beautiful 3D renders, but you go quiet when asked the right seating height
  • ✕Your first live site is your first job, and every mistake shows
  • ✕MR or BWP ply? Laminate or acrylic? You guess
  • ✕Quotes and BOQs are a black box someone else handles
  • ✕Watch recorded videos and forget most of it in a week
THE NEW WAY
  • ✓Learn what firms actually pay for: measurements, materials and execution
  • ✓Design from the human body. Know why a counter sits around 34″
  • ✓Walk a live Skyline site on Day 3 and see how a design becomes a home
  • ✓Pick the right ply, finish and hardware, and know what to check on site
  • ✓See how a real quote and BOQ are built, taught by the team that prepares them
  • ✓Do a hands-on task every day and get feedback in the WhatsApp group

The old way teaches you to draw a kitchen. The new way teaches you to build one.

Who this is for

If You Can Design It On Screen But Haven't Built It On Site, This Is For You

Interior design students Recent interior design graduates Architecture students Diploma & certificate learners Freshers in their first studio job Junior designers who want site confidence Civil engineers moving into interiors SketchUp, 3ds Max & AutoCAD users Career-switchers into interiors Students who moved to Bangalore for design Anyone who designs on screen but hasn't built on site

You don't need perfect English or industry contacts. If you can hold a measuring tape, you can do this.

What you'll learn, day by day

Five Live Days. One Task Every Day.

1 to 2 hours a day, live on Zoom. You won't just watch. You'll do something each day and post it in the group for feedback.

Day1Mon 26 Oct

Measurements & human dimensions

  • Anthropometrics: why every good design starts from the human body
  • Seating, table and desk heights, including a desk for two monitors or a laptop and keyboard
  • Kitchen base and wall cabinet heights, and why the counter is set from the cook's elbow
  • The standard measurements to know before you talk to a client

Your taskMeasure a real room at home and post your sketch.

Day2Tue 27 Oct

Materials: ply, laminates, acrylic & hardware

  • MR vs BWP ply, and why the sink cabinet needs BWP
  • Laminate vs acrylic vs veneer: where each one works and where it fails
  • Hinges, channels and soft-close hardware: what your client is really paying for

Your taskLabel the materials in one room and post it.

Day3Wed 28 Oct

A live Skyline site walkthrough

  • Imran takes you onto a real Skyline project, on your screen
  • How a 3D design becomes a home, step by step
  • The site precautions our project managers follow
  • Where render and reality split, and how to catch it early

Your taskWrite the execution sequence for a kitchen.

Day4Thu 29 Oct

How quotes & BOQs are built

  • A real BOQ, line by line (client names blurred)
  • How a quote is priced, taught with the team that prepares Skyline's own quotes
  • How one wrong measurement makes a client pay for the same kitchen twice

Your taskMark up a sample BOQ and spot what's missing.

Day5Fri 30 Oct

Your path into the industry

  • What studios check before they hire a fresher
  • The swimming truth: what to practise over your next 6–12 months
  • Working at a studio vs starting your own practice
  • For those who want to go further: how to apply for the Foundation Designer programme

Your taskRecord a 60-second introduction of yourself as a designer.

Why a challenge, not a course

Built On Real Science, Not Just Slides

≈34″

Design starts from the body

Anthropometrics is the measurement of the human body. A kitchen counter sits around 34 inches because it is set about 4 inches below the cook's elbow. Software will draw any number you type. A designer who understands the body types the right one.

Panero & Zelnik, Human Dimension & Interior Space (1979)

1.5×

Doing beats watching

Across 225 studies, students in lecture-only classes were about 1.5 times more likely to fail than students who learned actively. That's why every day has a task.

Freeman et al., PNAS 111(23), 2014

61%

Recall makes it stick

People who practised recalling what they learned remembered 61% a week later, against 40% for those who only re-read it. Posting your work each day is that practice.

Mohammed Imran

Founder, Skyline Spaces · 10 years in Bangalore interiors

  • Runs Skyline Spaces, an interior design and execution studio in Bangalore. His team designs homes, prepares BOQs, works with factories and executes on site every day.
  • Hires freshers every year, so he knows exactly what studios check before they hire one.
  • Freshers who joined him knowing only software now design projects in Dubai. Others run their own studios.
“I'll be honest with you: five days won't make you an expert. You don't learn swimming in one class. But five days will show you exactly what to practise, and whether this career is truly for you.”Mohammed Imran

Questions

Before You Book

Is it live or recorded?

Live on Zoom, 1 to 2 hours a day for five days. Recordings and the bonuses are shared in the WhatsApp group, so you can catch up if you miss a session.

Do I need to know SketchUp, 3ds Max or AutoCAD?

No. This challenge covers the part software doesn't: measurements, materials, site execution and quotes. If you already use design software, this is what connects your designs to real sites.

Do I need to be in Bangalore?

No. Everything happens online, including the Day 3 site walkthrough. The examples come from real Bangalore projects.

What language is it in?

English, with a little Kannada. You don't need perfect English to follow along or take part.

Will this get me a job or an internship?

No one can honestly promise that, and we don't. The challenge teaches you the practical skills studios look for. What you do with them, and how much you practise, decides what happens next.

What do I need for Day 1?

A phone or laptop with Zoom, a notebook, and a measuring tape. You'll use the tape on Day 1.

Will you sell me something?

On Day 5, Imran explains the Foundation Designer programme for students who want to go further. It is application-only, and you are free to stop after the five days.

How do I pay?

Fill in the form below and you'll go straight to a secure ₹499 checkout. After paying, you'll get the link to join the challenge WhatsApp group.
